About Us

Our Senior Pastor
Rev. Michael Reed
Reverend Michael Reed (as depicted by In The Round Productions owner Josh Harris) or "Pastor Reed" is a graduate of Houghton College in Houghton, New York. He earned his masters degree at Ashland Theological Seminary and has been with Angola Friends since his graduation in 1990.

Pastor Reed has been married to his wife, Pamela, for fourteen years. They have three children, Karen, Mike, and Cassandra.

Angola Friends Church was started as a daughter church of the larger Silver Creek Friends Church. Our first pastor was Peter King, a retired Friends missionary to Haiti. Pastor King and his wife, Eve, started weekly Sunday meetings in the old one-room school building, but quickly had to move to a larger building that could accommodate the growing congregation. Angola Friends purchased the vacant Angola Movie Theatre and continued to hold services there until our new building was completed in 2000.

A major interest at Angola Friends Church is ministering to the underprivileged community of downtown Angola. In 1977, Pastor King purchased 14 acres of land from the Silver Creek Friends Church to build a low-income housing development, later to be called "King's Place". King's Place has provided housing for over 200 families and has lead to the development of an effective inner-city outreach program.

Our church is an active supporter of Evangelical Friends Missions. While maintaining local ministries, we also take the Gospel beyond our country's border, following Christ's command to, "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel." Many families at Angola Friends have spent weeks or even years over-seas serving other cultures in Christian ministries. An annual youth trip to the Dominican Republic proves an exciting and educational experience for many of our young people.

Along with our new church building we have welcomed new members and a wing for the children and youth ministries. Most recently, Pastor Reed has started a monthly prayer meeting with other local pastors hoping to unite the ministries of several churches and reach out to the Christian leaders of Angola and Silver Creek. We also announce the addition of a singles Sunday school class and the end of construction on our new library. Exciting things are happening as we see God bless the ministry of Angola Friends.
